Schmölzer Wirt in Grainau

Delicious German food. Nice modern restaurant with a nice ambience. The prices were a bit expensive and the portions were relatively small. Unfortunately, part of my order was also forgotten.

Delicious! Gladly again. Also a good option after hiking or after the Zugspitze.

We were in Grainau in January. Our accommodation was recommended to us by the Schmölzer landlord. On the first day we arrived and couldn't get a seat because the kitchen was already closing. The next day we made a reservation and it worked. Our tip: call or reserve beforehand. The food was okay. For the price we expected more from the food.

Nice cozy restaurant with beer garden. Great food at normal prices. Good and friendly service.

Burger was good, service is ok. French fries unfortunately of moderate quality, very fat. Beer garden in good weather, although very close to the main road (the stream between the restaurant and the road makes it very pleasant). Mountain view is wonderful.

A restaurant with style. The food was delicious, the waiting times were absolutely fine and the staff very friendly and attentive. My highlight besides the delicious cheese spaetzle was definitely the vinaigrette with the salad. I often only experience carelessly arranged salad bouquets - sometimes even without dressing. This one was just right and just the right amount for the small side salad. The Kaiserschmarren was very tasty, nicely fried in butter, but not quite as fluffy by my standards. I can't understand some of the reviews that say the portions are too small. It wasn't too little and not too much, just the right amount to fill you up.

Great food, large portions! The schweinsbraten is delicious, a small portion of Kaiserschmarren is sufficient for two. The service is very friendly, they try their best to be as quick as possible, but they are a bit understaffed. Don’t come here when you are in a hury, take your time. Reservation recommended.

Absolutely no hospitality to be found. The prices are a little higher compared to Grainau. The spinach dumplings were good, but the portion too small. There was hardly any parmesan to be found. The Wiener Schnitzel was delicious, the breading was crispy but tasteless. If you are not sitting right by the stream, you have little benefit from the location. I definitely prefer the restaurants in Grainau.

Very stylish top restaurant. Unusual food creations at reasonable prices. You just feel good here. The waitress is always eager to please her guests. Even the smallest detail is perfect. Gladly again and again on special occasions.

I can't say anything about the food as we left without ordering after being ignored by the service staff for over 25 minutes. There wasn't any item on the menu that would have convinced us to stay anyway. Biergarten was nice though.

A cozy restaurant. The food tastes good, but the portions are just too small. You have to choose a dessert to get full. Unfortunately, it is much too expensive for the small portions. The staff is nice and quick.

On the whole, nothing special. The food was ok but not more. The portions are not very big and in my eyes overpriced. Got bigger portions, cheaper and above all better tasting food. The staff worked you off like on an assembly line. Not particularly nice either.

Very bad experience with the restaurant. We would like to be on July 10th. Guests at the Schmölzer Wirt have been with our family. My wife was there quickly at lunchtime to reserve 4 places for us. Then she was told that we do not need to reserve. In the evening we arrived and were rejected with the sentence, everything is reserved. Everyone can think about it now, but me and my family we felt ripped off! In addition, we got into a downpour. So really successful evening. In the future we will say no thanks to the Schmölzer host!

After spending the whole day on top of the cold mountain we came down here to finish the day and it was the hit. The food is wonderful, service and atmosphere was great. Right on the river and the garden makes you wanna sleep. Staff was friendly and prices are good. Go there and see...

Very cozy restaurant, with very nice service and very tasty food. You should make a reservation, Corona Due to the fact that everything is quickly full before all evenings.

Excellent food. Especially after a long strenuous climb to the Zugspitze 😃 With good weather a table on the terrace next to the river is highly recommended. Very affordable too.

Great place to dine

The service was slow. I asked for a liter beer, but they only had half liters. I ordered the second before my meal was served, but it didn't come until my meal was half finished. The schnitzel was not that great.

Not much choice around so had to get there. Service is OK, food is not worth it. Would go somewhere else.

Amazing wine selection.

We had just passed through a number of small Austrian towns during shoulder season and all the restaurants were closed so finding this place was definitely welcome. Despite being the only ones there mid afternoon on a Sunday the greeting was warm, the Christmas decorations impeccable and the food amazing. Would highly recommend!!

Very good menu card, fantastic whine collection! Good food, on some Days they turn on the barbecue outside, fantastic located at the creek, below the campsite and very Kinder friendly, with own menu and chairs.

good wine selection for an incredible quality price ratio. We love to go there in the evenings to enjoy the delicious tartar with an excellent glass of red wine. Highly recommended :-)

Now one of the best restaurants in Garmisch. In the last few months I have gone here 4 times and each time the food has been incredible, the wine selection is beyond compare and the location on the river is perfect for hot days. I have had tremendous service each time I have gone. I understand from my friends who went over a year ago that the service was originally terrible and I have to say that has changed. The last time I went was with my Mother and her 3 friends. We reserved a table ahead of time, and they gave us the best one in the house and waited on us hand and foot. It was some of the best service I have seen in Germany. This is my new favorite in Town!

A little expensive thus 4 stars, food and ambiance excellent.

Very good food and drinks but the service "could be better"; it depends a bit on the person serving, some are friendly, others give the impression that they don't care at all. Maybe this is driven by the fact that the location is smack in the middle of campsites, but in this day and age of social media not smart to do.
